Many communities have local resources, coalitions, and opportunities to get involved that can offer support. If your community does not, we encourage you to utilize the resources below to learn about local community means safety efforts and bring something similar to your community.

      The Substance Use Prevention (SUP) Program and the Suicide and Violence Prevention (SVP) Program have joined forces to expand the Keep It Safe Campaign, formerly known as Lock Up Your Lethals. In addition to outreach, educational materials and resources, the expanded Keep It Safe Campaign includes a Lockbox Distribution Program. The new lockboxes are gun safe lockboxes that can hold up to two handguns, medications or other items that could cause injury or death.

Counseling is also provided to victims of natural and man-made disasters, their families and emergency first responders.

      The Napa County Suicide Prevention Council supports existing local suicide prevention and stigma reduction efforts.  The council is working to identify and fill gaps in suicide prevention approaches across the County, as we develop an overarching Suicide Prevention plan that addresses the needs and input of our community.  It is in alignment with the State’s Suicide Prevention Strategic Plan, “Striving for Zero” suicides in Napa County.

      Riverside University Health System – Behavioral Health is comprised of three major programs: Mental Health Services, Substance Use Services, and the Public Guardian’s Office. These programs provide prompt, efficient, professional, culturally competent services throughout the county. Services are primarily targeted toward individuals on Medi-Cal plus those eligible for other specialized State programs.

      The San Francisco Behavioral Health Plan offers a full range of specialty Behavioral health services provided by a culturally diverse network of community Behavioral health programs, clinics and private psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists. Services are available to residents of San Francisco who receive Medi-Cal benefits, San Francisco Health Plan members, and to other San Francisco residents with limited resources.

      Behavioral Health and Recovery Services provides mental health services to individuals who are eligible for Medi-Cal and/or members of the Health Plan of San Mateo through outpatient clinics in Daly City, San Mateo, the Coastside, Redwood City and East Palo Alto, in school-based locations, and through a network of community agencies and independent providers who offer outpatient services, residential treatment, rehabilitation and other services for adults and children.

      The Suicide Prevention Committee (SPC) provides oversight and direction to suicide prevention efforts in San Mateo County. Led by the Office of Diversity and Equity at San Mateo County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services, the committee is comprised of suicide attempt survivors, suicide loss survivors, behavioral health providers, social service providers, local transportation agency staff, and other community members passionate about preventing suicide in our community.

      The Department of Behavioral Wellness is the hub for behavioral health assistance in Santa Barbara County. “Behavioral Health” or “BWELL” heralds strengthened relationships with our community and partners. “Behavioral Wellness” reflects the merging of mental health with alcohol and other drug services under one roof. Integrating these services will better address the needs of individuals with complex behavioral health and substance use challenges.

      SafeRx Santa Cruz County (SafeRx) is a local substance use safety coalition comprised of social service, government, behavioral health, and healthcare organizations dedicated to aligning and accelerating best practices for opioids and other substances, as well as current best practice guidelines to reduce death.

      The Behavioral Health Department offers a broad range of mental health, alcohol, and other drug (AOD) services to all residents of Sierra County. Its goal is to offer services in a supportive environment that focuses on recovery. Regardless of ability to pay, the Behavioral Health Department provides emergency crisis assessments and other services.

    • Siskiyou County Behavioral Health Division opens in a new window
      The Behavioral Health Division provides a broad range of mental health and substance use disorder services. Specially trained county behavioral health staff members provide services in cooperation with community agencies and private health care providers. Behavioral Health serves seriously mentally ill adults and emotionally disturbed children, people of any age in a major crisis, and those whose lives are impacted by the use of drugs and/or alcohol. Individuals who are eligible for Medi-Cal under a managed care plan called the Mental Health Plan (MHP) are eligible for services at Behavioral Health.

      Solano County Behavioral Health assists over 6,000 children, youth and adults each year who are experiencing a psychiatric crisis, addiction, or who have significant mental and emotional disabilities. Services include: crisis supports, integrated care clinics that offer brief therapy, case management, psychiatric assessments and medication, outpatient treatment; Full Service Partnerships, foster care supports, Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) teams, supported employment, peer support, and a range of community support services, including various contracted community based organizations and wellness centers.

      Stanislaus County BHRS provides integrated mental health services to adults and older adults with a serious mental illness and to children and youth with a serious emotional disturbance. BHRS also provides outpatient and residential alcohol and drug treatment and prevention services and serves as Stanislaus County’s Public Guardian.

Eligibility is determined through our assessment process to identify if an individual has a severe and persistent mental illness or is a child with severe emotional disturbance.

      The Tulare County Health & Human Services Agency (HHSA) Mental Health Branch provides services for residents who are experiencing symptoms of mental illness. Both County-operated and community-based clinics provide services ranging from outpatient to long-term care. Together, these programs create a system of care for individuals of all ages experiencing mental health problems.
