- Controlled Substance Public Disposal Locations
The best way to dispose of medication is to drop them off at a local safe disposal site. You can visit the link above, provided by the U.S Department of Justice to find ones near you.
- U.S Food & Drug Administration FDA’s Flush List Medicine
If you wish to dispose of medication and are not able to get to a safe disposal site, the next best option is to check if your medication is on the FDA’s Flush List.
- Drug Disposal: Dispose “Non-Flush List” Medicine in Trash
If you wish to dispose of a medication and it is not on the FDA Flush list, you should follow the instructions via the link above to dispose of them in the trash.

The new lockboxes are gun safe lockboxes that can hold up to two handguns, medications or other items that could cause injury or death.

Specially trained county behavioral health staff members provide services in cooperation with community agencies and private health care providers. Behavioral Health serves seriously mentally ill adults and emotionally disturbed children, people of any age in a major crisis, and those whose lives are impacted by the use of drugs and/or alcohol. Individuals who are eligible for Medi-Cal under a managed care plan called the Mental Health Plan (MHP) are eligible for services at Behavioral Health.
